We are pleased to announce we have teamed with Apex Industries - based in Moncton, New Brunswick - to offer LED lighting to the Royal Canadian Navy for their CSC (Canadian Surface Combatant) warships.

Since developing the lighting systems for the UK Type 26 Frigates, the MARL Team has transferred the technology to Redarc Defence & Space for the Hunter Class Frigates in Australia. Our agreement with Apex now enables us to bring the same technology to the CSC Program in Canada, creating a common global lighting system for combat ships.

Advantages of a common lighting system include ease of supply and replacement, exploitation of the sunk development costs and a known, trusted system that has already been through rigorous testing to military standards in a growing list of countries.

Apex Industries CEO Keith Parlee said, “We are thrilled with the relationship we have developed with MARL and their willingness to transfer this technology to Canada.  Being able to manufacture and provide support for high-quality marine LED lights in Canada is a great step for Apex. This will allow us to grow our Moncton workforce and broaden our product offering to the wider Canadian supply chain.”

MARL International Managing Director, Adrian Rawlinson, said, “MARL’s experience in the other Combat Ship programs of Type 26 and Hunter class have shown us the benefits of growing local capability. We have put a lot of effort into finding the right Canadian partner and we couldn’t be happier than to have found a likeminded company in Apex Industries. Together we will offer CSC a LED lighting suite that delivers state-of-the-art operational performance, reduced through-life costs and environmental benefits.”

Upholding MARL's reputation for robust, dependable lighting systems requires a manufacturer who can work closely with us to build the products to our exacting quality standards and specifications.  We're delighted to have found that dependability in Apex, and are looking forward to working with them in the coming months.
